Frostfang seems pretty powerful as a Survivalist weapon, so if you have that DLC definitely give it a try. For me though, without the fire-resistance of firebug I don't enjoy using the molly. If you can tolerate using the molotov over the medic grenade for the extra weight, that might open up some interesting combinations. The way survivalist is set up, I feel like either being a trash killer or using it as a solo/small team jack-of-all-trades perk are really the only effective ways of using it. I am also of the opinion that if you're just gonna use one of the big weapons, like an RPG or railgun, you're probably better off just using the perk for those weapons. I experiment a lot with different survivalist loadouts, and these are the best I've found so far in my opinion. Then, once I have enough dosh for the Hemo and preferably my second weapon, I switch to survivalist. For that reason if I think I want to play survivalist I'll usually start the game as a zerk or firebug because those classes can easily go a few rounds in HoE with only the starter weapon. This loadout works best on kiting maps where you can use the crossbow and shotgun on one big zed at a time while kiting.Īnother thing to keep in mind is that survivalist is pretty pointless until you have 1-2 of the weapons you intend to use in your loadout. Jumping backwards and alt-firing at the right time can save you from getting hit by a raged FP or scrake, while also inflicting damage to them. Also great for headshotting scrakes as it has a decent chance to stun.ĭouble Barrel Shotgun - Use this on big zeds that have already been aggro'd and are in your face. Hemoclobber - Same as before, all-purpose zed killer and player healer.Ĭrossbow - Use this on those pesky zeds that you don't want to melee. This is a fun loadout to use when you're the first one on an empty server, you can handle anything but once the zeds are scaled up to 5-6 people it's not as effective. Kaboomstick - Great trash killer and can handle fleshpounds alright with alt-fire and quick reloads thanks to being a survivalist.ĭragonsbreath - Another great trash killer weapon, just be super careful not to aggro big zeds with the flames!įor this loadout you're going to basically be playing like a firebug, find a tight lane that you can solo with your AOE shotguns and you'll rack up tons of trash kills. If there's no medic on the team, then try to use it to keep your mates healed. Hemoclobber - Good for the speed bonus, heals, and all-purpose trash killing. This one is mostly a trash focused loadout, but you can also handle fleshpounds if need be. Skills: RRLLR (if you find the stuns from the fourth skill to be aggro'ing big zeds at bad times then just switch to R) To be fair, like all perks, I don't pick survivalist if I don't think the role I'll play with it is going to be useful considering what the team composition is like. I play mostly HoE and I've found two loadouts that I do okay with. I guess I just like the variety you can have with a surv loadout compared to only shotguns on support, only X on Y, etc. Hi, I really enjoy survivalist for some stupid reason. Seeker is really good in battle of attrition, you get alot of damage from the whole ammo pool and ammo boxes are really efficient. Magnum or the deagle+1 are just for general utility like killing a rioter, husk, bloat or maybe a gas crawler.įrostfang destroys bosses but when it comes to final waves i go with hemoclobber+frostfang+seeker6. Another strategy is to freeze a big zed in a doorway so that nothing can go past him. When it comes to scrakes the strategy i use is to rage him from afar so that he outruns any trash next to him and freeze when he's close. Keep in mind that you'll need to have a big zed somewhat isolated so that nothing can interupt you during your takedown. Important to note that both the shotgun part and axe part of frostfang get the Melee Expert damage bonus which is why it destroys everything. Fleshpound: if you try to freeze him with body shots he'll rage, you need to first shoot the arm grinder and then shoot his body which will freeze him. Scrake: freeze then give him 4 headshots point blank. When it comes to big zeds Frostfang is all you need. Don't upgrade the magnum, upgrade the deagle if you take it.
